We began our exploration of temple theology with the opening chapters of Genesis. The entire biblical narrative starts with a vision of creation as God’s temple. Therefore, we should not be surprised to discover that the biblical story ends the same way—with a vision of the entire creation as God’s temple. In the final days of this series, we’ll be looking more closely at Revelation 21 and 22, and how an understanding of the temple’s role throughout the Bible and its symbols illuminates the meaning of John’s vision of the New Jerusalem. Before we do that, however, it’s worth reviewing the broader temple narrative to see how Revelation fits.
