We are trying to understand how the ancient world of the Bible understood temples. Yesterday, we saw how temples were more than places of worship; they were seen as divine houses—where the presence of a god dwelled. And a building—no matter how ornate or sacred—could not be a true temple if the god’s presence was not there. I compared it to Air Force One—the radio call sign given to an aircraft but only when the President of the United States is aboard.
